Covid-19 Vaccination at the Hana Nursing Home

Covid-19 vaccination has started in Indonesia, several vulnerable groups are prioritized to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, one of which is the elderly.

The elderly do have the highest risk of death from Covid-19 with a case fatality ratio of four times higher. About 50 percent of all deaths due to Covid-19 occur in the elderly. Even though the number of elderly people is only 12 percent of the total Covid-19 cases. Therefore, it is important to accelerate Covid-19 vaccination for the elderly.

Hana Nursing Home has gradually vaccinated the elderly residents to the UKRIDA Hospital.  On Monday, April 26, 2021, a total of 33 seniors have received their second vaccinations. Meanwhile, other seniors are scheduled to receive the second vaccine on May 3 at the UKRIDA Hospital and May 16, 2021 at the Puskesmas. The COVID-19 vaccine is expected to be effective in reducing the risk of the elderly from severe and fatal infections from COVID-19.

Fight effort against COVID-19 is not just a vaccine, but other precautions such as 5M wearing a mask, maintaining distance, washing hands, avoiding crowds and limiting mobility must still be implemented in a disciplined manner as a form of adaptation to new habits.

Let’s work together to make the Covid-19 vaccination a success. Protect yourself, protect the country.
