BE FRIENDS

A friend loveth at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.

(Proverb 17 : 17)

In 1997 the United Nations determined character “Winnie the Pooh” as the World’s Ambassador of Friendship. Who doesn’t know Winnie the Pooh, a fictional cartoon character in the form of a sun bear who is friendly with Piglet (a little pig), Tiger (a tiger) and Eeyore (a donkey), there is also a boy named Christopher Robin. The friendship between them is very strong and also sincere. They help each other, laugh together, care for each other, endure hardships and troubles together. It’s really worth it when finally Winnie the Pooh is awarded the ambassador of world friendship.

Humans as social being cannot live alone. Every human will need other human to be able to live a good life. However, there are people who are just present in our lives and there are people who are close to us. The book of Proverbs states what a friend should be like, that he is not just there, but underlying relationship on love and does not even hesitate to be a brother who helps us when we face difficulties. In the end, one question we can ask is: have we been good friends to those around us?

PRAYER:

Lord, enable us to be loving friends and brothers to our neighbors who are in trouble. Amen.
